The objectives of MINESTRONE are to develop remote sensing algorithms for the quantitative retrieval of Particulate Organic and Inorganic Carbon (POC and PIC) concentration in optically complex and dynamic waters of the North Sea and to apply these algorithms to satellite data for a 20+ years time-series evaluation. The expected outcomes are improved retrieval of standing stocks of carbon pools that will, in turn, contribute to the quantification of the North Sea carbon budget.
